(BUITEMS), Quetta, Pakistan organized a workshop to educate the university gardeners on the importance of water conservation (Sustainable Development Goal 6) in celebration of the World Water Day on 22 March 2025, and provided them with practical tips and strategies to reduce water wastage. The session delivered by Mr. Sulaiman Kasi (Director Administration & General Services, BUITEMS) aimed to brief the gardeners on the best practices to conserve water while maintaining the exquisiteness and sustainability of the campus.
The gardeners were advised to avoid overwatering and water the plants in the morning or evening for water wastage reduction. The importance of improving water drainage methods, storing rainwater and adopting efficient irrigation methods like drip irrigation, and use of mulch was highlighted for saving water from spoilage.
BUITEMS plans to Install water recycling plants and water saving taps throughout the campus, and raise awareness among the masses by continuous workshops and scholarly discussions. The workshop was interactive and informative, with gardeners actively participating in the discussions. The session concluded with a renewed commitment from the gardeners to adopt water-conserving practices and contribute to a sustainable and eco-responsible environment.
