Monday, 7 April 2025, 11:30 AM ET - 1:00PM ET

Conference Room 5, UNHQ, New York

To mark the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) at UN Headquarters in New York, the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), in collaboration with the Permanent Missions of the State of Qatar and Principality of Monaco to the United Nations (Co-Chairs of the Group of Friends of Sport for Development and Peace) is hosting an event Monday, 7 April 2025 at 11:30 am ET in Conference Room 5.

Every year, we celebrate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP), highlighting the transformative power of sport in fostering positive change, enhancing social cohesion, and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This day serves as a reminder of how sport can unite communities and promote values that contribute to societal development.

This year’s event will host prominent athletes and leaders in the world of sport, who will share their personal experiences of advocating for social inclusion through sport. The event will highlight the power of sport in promoting equality for all, while showcasing how sport and technology can create real, positive change in society. Their stories will highlight the challenges they've faced and the ways in which they’ve used their platforms to inspire others.

UN grounds pass holders can join the event in person.
