Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Office at Nairobi (UNON) hosted a vibrant celebration to mark the Chinese New Year, led by its Director-General, Mrs. Zainab Hawa Bangura. The event, held at the UNON conference facilities, brought together over 500 distinguished guests, including members of the Diplomatic Corps, representatives from the Chinese diaspora in Kenya, government officials, members of the press, and UN personnel.

The celebrations, also known as the Lunar New Year, featured remarks from key dignitaries, including UNON¡¯s Director-General Mrs. Bangura and the Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, Her Excellency Guo Haiyan. Speaking on behalf of the Government of Kenya, Ambassador Jane Makore, Deputy Director in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responsible for China, extended warm wishes to the Chinese community, emphasizing Kenya's appreciation for the longstanding friendship between the two nations.

Guests were treated to captivating performances, including dazzling acrobatics from artists representing Luohe City in Henan Province and a breathtaking martial arts showcase by performers from the renowned Shaolin Temple on Mount Song in Central China. The cultural displays highlighted the rich heritage and traditions of China, captivating the audience with their skill and artistry.

In her remarks, Mrs. Bangura underscored the significance of the Chinese New Year as a time for wisdom, growth, and renewal. She emphasized that 2025 offers an opportunity for increased dialogue and collaboration towards global peace and prosperity.
