The first Ambassadorial Meeting of the Group of Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) under the Bureau for the years 2025-2026 was held on 24 January 2025. It appreciated Botswana’s leadership as outgoing Chair and the achievements of the previous Bureau. Bolivia was welcomed as the new Chair, with Kyrgyzstan as Vice-Chair, alongside the new Bureau members from Eswatini, Lao PDR, Rwanda, and Zimbabwe. The slogan of the Chair for its tenure was announced as “strength through unity”.

The group’s priorities for the next two years were outlined and agreed upon with members stressing the importance of the implementation of the new Programme of Action for the LLDCs and the success of the third United Nations Conference on LLDCs. The meeting also focused on integrating LLDC interests into global intergovernmental frameworks, financing support and resource mobilization for LLDCs, and climate change efforts.
