Voices from the Heart of Landlocked Nations: Young Storytellers Shaping Sustainable Futures
SIDE EVENTS AT THE 2025 ECOSOC YOUTH FORUM
Background
Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) face unique challenges that hinder their sustainable development progress, including geographical isolation, limited access to global markets, and vulnerabilities to external shocks. These challenges impact youth disproportionately, limiting opportunities for growth, education, and employment.
In preparation for the Third United Nations Conference on LLDCs (LLDC3) to be held in Turkmenistan from 4¨C8 August 2025, OHRLLS is organizing a virtual side event at the 2025 ECOSOC Youth Forum. The event will spotlight the voices of young storytellers from LLDCs, providing a platform for them to share digital stories¡ªthrough photos and videos¡ªthat capture their unique experiences and aspirations. The event aims to build momentum toward LLDC3, highlighting how youth-led narratives can contribute to achieving key SDGs featured at this year¡¯s ECOSOC Youth Forum.
Objectives of the side event, including relation with the SDGs identified in the Guidelines
- Showcase Youth Narratives: Provide a platform for young storytellers from LLDCs to share compelling digital stories that highlight local experiences linked to SDGs 5, 8, 14, and 17.
- Build Momentum for LLDC3: Engage youth participants and global stakeholders to prepare for LLDC3, ensuring youth perspectives are central to the conference outcomes.
- Foster Global Partnerships: Strengthen collaboration between young changemakers, development partners, and international organizations, supporting SDG 17 implementation.
